With the launch of our new Struga office in Summer 2025, we’ve entered a new era of energy management - one where renewable production, real-time monitoring, and AI-powered automation work together to make smart consumption both possible and measurable.
This article dives into how we’ve built an intelligent energy infrastructure using solar, batteries, and IoT - and how we’re tracking its performance against our ESG goals.
☀️ From Panels to Performance – Our Renewable Backbone
We equipped the Struga office with a 25kW solar system using Enphase IQ8+ microinverters. Each panel operates independently, maximizing uptime and generating detailed production data down to the microinverter level.
- Microinverter Tech Advantage
➡️ No single point of failure
➡️ Panel-level analytics via Enphase’s API
➡️ Better efficiency in partial shading and cloudy conditions - Solar Visibility
➡️ Production data is ingested via Prometheus from the Enphase gateway
➡️ Visualized through Grafana dashboards updated in real-time
➡️ Forecast-based estimation models integrated with weather APIs to inform AI automation decisions
🔋 Battery Storage – More Than Backup
In addition to production, the system includes 10kW of smart battery storage to increase autonomy and enable peak-shifting logic.
- Smart Discharge Scheduling
➡️ Batteries discharge automatically during peak pricing periods
➡️ Charging prioritized when solar output exceeds internal demand - Failure Resilience
➡️ In the event of power loss, critical systems are powered autonomously for up to 8 hours
➡️ IoT relays prioritize critical circuits (e.g., server racks, security systems)
🧠 Genera: The Brain Behind the Balance
Our AI automation engine, Genera, plays a central role in optimizing energy flows. Rather than simply reacting, it anticipates and adapts based on a range of inputs.
Real-Time Data Feeds:
- Power draw per device (Shelly EM, Shelly Pro 3EM)
- Battery state of charge
- Solar production curves
- Indoor temperature and lighting levels
- Presence and activity detection
Genera's Logic in Action:
- If solar exceeds 15kW and the battery is at 90% → pre-cool zones for evening comfort
- If battery drops below 20% → reduce non-critical lighting and defer automation cycles
- During low-occupancy hours → stagger high-load device usage (e.g., water heaters, ventilation fans)
📊 From Data to ESG Metrics – What We Track
We don’t just automate - we measure. Here’s what we continuously monitor to evaluate our energy ESG performance:
Metric | Tracked How | How |
Solar production (kWh) | Enphase + Prometheus | > 80% of daily load |
Battery cycling efficiency | State of charge deltas | > 85% efficiency |
Grid draw during peak hours | Smart meter + timestamp filters | < 10% of total draw |
Energy use per square meter | Aggregated by zone | Declining quarterly |
Carbon offset (kg CO₂ saved) | Est. from national grid profile | Transparent KPI |
These metrics are published internally and shared with our partners as part of our transparent ESG reporting initiative.
Toward Autonomous Sustainability
With this setup, Hoyo Tech has moved beyond traditional energy savings - we’ve built a system that thinks, predicts, and acts based on the real-time dynamics of people, environment, and production.
In the next article, we’ll explore how we apply the same level of intelligence to air quality, comfort, and environmental sensing - automating for wellness, not just wattage.
