Bringing Nature and Intelligence Together

Our vision for the new Hoyo Tech office wasn’t just about creating a workspace—it was about showcasing the full potential of our smart system. We wanted every element to demonstrate how technology can seamlessly integrate into daily life, even in ways most wouldn’t expect. That’s why, when designing our kitchen and lounge area, we took on a unique challenge: incorporating a large olive tree into our space and ensuring it thrives using the intelligence of the Hoyo Smart Office system.

Optimizing Air Quality for a Healthier Space

Since the temperature in the office is already regulated by our smart system, the next step was ensuring optimal air quality. We installed an air quality sensor to monitor PM2.5 particles and CO2 levels in real time. If oxygen levels drop too low, the system sends a warning, prompting us to open a window and let fresh air in. Similarly, if pollution levels exceed our defined thresholds, the air purifiers automatically activate, adjusting their intensity based on the severity of the pollution. After testing different brands, we chose BlueAir Purifiers, which not only handle air pollutants effectively but also remove odors—a perfect fit for our smart environment.

Solving the Natural Light Problem

One of the biggest concerns with keeping a tree indoors is the lack of natural sunlight. During workdays, the room gets some light, but on weekends, for security reasons, the shutters remain closed, leaving the tree in darkness for up to 48 hours. After consulting with botanical experts, we learned that purple/blue light is the best option for olive trees. To solve this, we installed automated LED grow lights that activate at night and over the weekends, ensuring the tree receives the right amount of light even when no one is in the office.

A Smarter Way to Water

Since we’re building the smartest office possible, we wanted to take automation one step further—this time for watering. We installed a soil probe to measure both temperature and moisture levels. Based on this data, we developed a self-irrigation system that keeps the olive tree perfectly hydrated. A hidden 3-liter water dispenser is mounted under the bar, connected to a small relay-controlled pump. Whenever the soil moisture drops below a certain threshold, the system automatically activates, delivering just the right amount of water to keep the tree healthy.

The Future of Smart Office Automation

Everything in this setup is monitored and controlled through the Hoyo Smart Office system, with all sensor data logged for future analysis. This data will help us refine our AI model, allowing the system to adapt dynamically based on the season, environmental conditions, and long-term trends.

This entire project started as a simple idea—to bring an olive tree into our workspace. But by applying smart automation, we turned it into a real-world example of how technology can enhance even the most unexpected aspects of daily life.
