ESG for People – Social Innovation in the Workplace

While energy and automation often steal the spotlight in smart environments, at Hoyo Tech, we believe the human experience is the most important dimension of ESG. Technology must work for people — enhancing comfort, improving safety, and promoting wellbeing across the entire workplace.

In both our Skopje and Struga offices, we’ve taken a human-first approach to automation, making every interaction smarter, safer, and more supportive of our team’s health and productivity.

👥 The “Social” in ESG – What It Means to Us

Social responsibility in the workplace means:

  • Enhancing daily experience through automation
  • Supporting safety and health via sensors and feedback systems
  • Respecting personal preferences and boundaries
  • Enabling transparency and control over one’s environment

And it’s not just about features. It’s about designing systems that serve people, not just processes.

🛠️ How We Built a Human-Centric Smart Office

🔐 Smart Access & Security

  • Digital NFC access badges + remote unlock features via Genera
  • Presence-aware automation disables sensitive systems (like HVAC, projectors) when areas are unoccupied
  • After-hours motion alerts with real-time camera activation for safety and security
  • Role-based access control (visitors, contractors, employees) mapped directly into Hoyo Smart Platform

🧘‍♂️ Comfort-First Automation

  • Adaptive lighting scenes based on daylight, activity, and room purpose
    • Example: cooler tones in morning, warmer tones in evening zones
  • Quiet zones and noise-level alerts to support deep focus
  • Climate profiles per zone based on usage type (e.g., meeting rooms vs. open workspaces)

🤖 Personal Control + Consent-Based AI

  • Employees can opt-in or override automations from mobile dashboards
  • Genera logs personal preference changes to learn behavior respectfully
  • Automations never lock out manual control — users always remain in charge

📣 Feedback-Driven Environments

We implemented a continuous feedback system — both digital and ambient — to listen and respond to the needs of our team.

  • Comfort voting panel (tablet or mobile): “Too warm / Just right / Too cold”
  • Anonymous input buttons at shared desks and meeting rooms
  • Air quality status displays in common areas with live data
  • Feedback is logged into Genera’s behavioral dataset for future optimizations

📊 ESG KPIs – Tracking the Social Impact

Metric

How It’s Tracked

Target Outcome

Comfort ScoreAvg rating across zones (weekly)≥ 4.5 / 5
Access Event LogsRole-based, per device100% traceable entry logs
Override RateUser-initiated changes to AI rules< 10% (indicates alignment)
Focus Zone Noise LevelsdB levels in quiet areas< 50 dB peak
IAQ Comfort ComplianceCO₂ and temp in comfort ranges> 95% uptime

Real Results

  • In Skopje, average comfort ratings improved from 3.7 to 4.6 within 2 months after integrating adaptive automation
  • In Struga, smart access control reduced unauthorized entry events to zero within the first month
  • Override rates dropped 22% as Genera learned employee preferences
